INTRODUCTION

Right now the Lord is preparing new things for the life of His people. But are we making room for those new things? (Isaiah 43:18-19

 CONTENT

  1. Maintain the mindset to stay healthy and positive.

In Isaiah 43:18 it says that we, as children of God, should not keep unhealthy, pessimistic thoughts or past memories. If we still have the old mindset, and we are still looking back, how can we see the new blessings from the Lord that He has prepared for us?

  • Let’s take the example of the wife of Lot. As she is still looking back, it shows that her mind is still focused on the past, so that the salvation God has prepared for her becomes meaningless (Genesis 19:16-17, 26).

  • Likewise with the story of the people of Israel. As a result of the very long slavery, their minds were still attached to the things of the past, when they were led out of Egypt to the land of Canaan (1 Corinthians 10:1, 10; Numbers 21:5-6).

Behold, God has prepared new things for us as He wants to use us to glorify His name (Isaiah 43:21).

2. Make room for new things

  • Leviticus 26:10 explains in more details. Have we abandoned all the old principles of life and the paradigm of the past, so that there will be room in us to receive new things from God and to fully enjoy them?

  • In the New Testament, Jesus teaches that we should not put new wine  into old wineskins. It means that we will not receive the new sweet wine in our lives if we still live, like the old wineskins, according to the old way of life and the old mindset (Matthew 9:17).

As children of God, who are saved, we of course want to wear new clothes, holy garments to enter the eternal Kingdom of God (Ezekiel 11:17-20).

God has given us the Holy Spirit as a guarantee that He will provide everything for us (2 Corinthians 5:4-5).

 CONCLUSION

Let us throw away the old lives and old thinking so that there will be room in us to receive the new wine (peace, joy, success etc.) and to fully enjoy it.
