CONFIDENCE IN GOD (3)
INTRODUCTION
‘His word never changes’. We can only rely on something that does not waver. While the promises, words and hopes of men are not always certain.
CONTENTS
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” (Matthew 24:35).
“...But the word of the LORD endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you. (1 Peter 1:25).
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:8).
The state of the world and the economic situation may change, but we believe that God's promises will never change. His promises are still ‘yes’ and ‘amen’ (2 Corinthians 1:20).
God's Word is not like our fickle emotions; today we are happy, but the next day we are sad. God's Word is beyond what we feel, experience, and face.
This is why we must be careful to distinguish between faith and feelings. Even if our feelings seem to be in conflict with His promises, still choose to believe His word. That's when our faith is tested whether we can keep trusting His word or not.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with feelings. Because it is also a gift from God, where we know that we are created in His image. It means that the Lord Jesus was a person with feelings. In the Garden of Gethsemane, the night before He was crucified, the Bible tells us that Jesus was under great stress. He seemed to be filled with feelings of fear and sadness. But Jesus chose not to be overcome by feelings. Instead, He surrendered His feelings to God (Luke 22:39-46).
With our feelings, we should be encouraged to be honest with God and share what we are going through with a broken heart, instead of denying the truth of His words. God Himself cares about what we are going through, but He cares even more about our response. This response depends on us.
No matter what we are going through today, we can still rely on His word.
CONCLUSION
Start building our lives based on His Word, because God's Word is a promise that is firm, unchanging, and will definitely happen.
