CONFIDENCE IN GOD (2)
INTRODUCTION
In order for us to grow in confidence in God, we need to develop intimacy with God.
CONTENTS
Three things to be considered and done:
Faith (Hebrews 11:6)
Do we follow God's will and have faith in His power, or do we follow our own way? This is something we experience every day or in our daily life which will serve as a testimony of our faith in God. When Moses was appointed by God to lead the Israelites, he experienced a crisis of faith. He measured himself by his own strength, which was that he felt incapable/ unable. But God wanted him to have faith in God's power. Through faith we learn to recognize God's standards.
Obey (John 14:23)
We must be willing to obey all His commands. In verses 23-24, Jesus said “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word... He who does not love Me does not keep My words….”
Obedience is the visible outward sign that we love God. The reward of obedience is God's love that we can feel and experience, which is an intimacy with God.
Meditate on God's Word (Psalm 1:2)
David was not reckoned neither in the family nor in the kingdom to stand up for the country. But the man that was not considered became a blessing to his family and country.
David did not get emotional or insecure when he was not included in the king's ‘contest’.
David had courage and confidence when facing Goliath. David even honoured Saul as God's anointed king, despite the opportunity to kill him.
This was a character-building process that proved that David had an intimate relationship with God, because of his fondness for praying day and night, praising and worshipping God, meditating on the law of the LORD, and always keeping himself in God's favour.
CONCLUSION
Build an intimate relationship with God so that our faith will become stronger.
