RESPONDING TO GOD'S VISIT

INTRODUCTION

Read from Luke 19:29-48.

What is our response when God visits us as written in Luke 19:44b?

We should react actively (not passively). For example: when King William came to our city to inaugurate a building or a place, the local people would welcome this important person enthusiastically. Moreover, if God visits us, how do we respond to His presence?

What exactly is the purpose of God's visitation that we need to know in order to respond?

God's visitation gives us the opportunity to serve Him (Luke 19:29-40).

  • They obeyed the command of Jesus (Luke 19:29-34).

They immediately did it without much argument to refuse (Luke 19:32) even though they had to face any risks (Luke 19:33).

Has the Lord's visit encouraged us to desire to serve Him more and more? Do we obey the commands of His Word and immediately put them into practice? Are we still eager to serve when we encounter challenges, obstacles and hindrances that try to disrupt our ministry? Honestly, we often drown in feelings of joy when our ministry is successful, but easily quit when offended or unappreciated.

  • They were willing to make sacrifices in serving Jesus (Luke 19:35-36).

In the ministry there is always sacrifice, are we willing and ready to sacrifice our time, energy, thoughts, feelings and money?

  • In the ministry, the only thing that is exalted is the Person of Jesus.

Indeed, the two disciples took off their clothes to cover the donkey's back and help Jesus get on it, but whatever they did, Jesus is the one who deserves to be exalted.

Our mindset must be changed, because only Jesus is worthy of being exalted and not ourselves.

  • They gave praise and thanks only to Jesus (Luke 19:37-38) with a joyful heart because they experienced miracles without being hindered by anything.

CONCLUSION

Let us welcome His visit by being willing to serve Him.
